Safety and Automotive
Visors and goggles form the backbone to the safety sector and Carclo have built a sound reputation for supplying high quality product with excellent surface finish and minimal distortion. Most of our Visors are designed to meet the stringent requirements of EN166 or, even more demanding military specifications. Carclo have manufactured Aircrew Visors, Motorcycle Visors, Firefighters masks and eye protection goggles and have developed design tools and production methods to guarantee products of the highest quality
Carclo ability to produce high volume precision optics at competitive prices and to internationally accredited standards has meant that our products are now specified by many of Europe's leading automotive manufacturers. Some examples of products in this category are Automotive headlights, instrument cluster light-guides, road marking reflectors and car rear view mirrors.
Carclo have developed design tools, manufacturing methods and inspection techniques to ensure that their visor products are distortion free and able to meet the requirements of EN166.
Firefighters Safety Visor
This ellipsoidal shaped visor was optimised for minimal distortion and maximum clear aperture. The visor was moulded in Polycarbonate and Grilamid.
Carclo design engineers replaced the customers blended optical surfaces with controlled smooth surfaces that were virtually distortion free and yet still gave a good interface with other mechanical features such as the face seal and respirator assembly. Using advanced CAD simulations, the customer was able to see the optical performance of the visor before committing to expensive tooling.
Aircrew Visors
Carclo makes visors for the RAF, where the highest optical standards are demanded together with supreme resilience to impact and abrasion.
These prestigious visors are also coated in gold to reflect the sun's rays when flying.
Automotive Instrument Cluster Lightguides
Unseen by motorists, these light-guides transport light around the dashboard and into the speedometer and tacho needles. Carclo uses state of the art optical raytracing software to ensure that the light is distributed evenly across the instruments.
